But Thrawn was one of the most brutal and formidable opponents the Rebels had ever faced, pushing the team to their physical and mental limits. The conclusion of the show feels less like an ending and more exciting. With Thrawn and Rebels protagonist Ezra Bridger vanishing into the vastness of space, so if Thrawn is really alive as Ahsoka believes, then there's a good chance Ezra is still there. This makes Ahsoka not only a continuation of Tano's story, but also a direct sequel to Star Wars Rebels.
